Religion plays an important role on the island of Samos, thus its monasteries and churches are majestic, with exceptional architecture, situated in truly magical locations. They have magnificent icon screens, made according to exceptional woodworking technique and are full of treasures, books and icons.

Some of them are: “Zoodochos Pigi”(1756), “Agia Zoni”(1695), “Panagia Vrontiani”, “Megali Panagia, “Timios Stavros” and “Agia Triada”.

In Samos, more than 67 caves, large and small ones, have been discovered, most of which are found in the western part of the island, on the mountain “Kerkis”. The most impressive of those caves are: “Kakoperato”, “Panagias Makrinis”, “Agias Triadas”, the “cave of Pythagoras”, where, according to the tradition, Pythagoras fled after being chased by the tyrant of Samos, Polykrates, the cave of “Panagia Spiliani” and the cave of “Agios Antonios”.
